Agusti Torelló is a quality Cava house, working exclusively with traditional grape varieties – the Macabeo, Xarello and parellada – for this unique region just south of Barcelona around the town of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. All wines are only degorged upon order (yeast residue removed and champagne cork placed), so that they are fresher after delivery. The degorgeer date is also on the bottles, something many Champagne houses still don't. Moreover, it is one of the few houses that all Cava's dare to make from one vintage. The beautiful dry and honest style typifies the wines of Agusti. Agusti Torelló is the only Cava house that mainly markets its bottles in (the topphoreca of) Catalonia, as with El Celler de Can Roca. The fact that Agusti Torelló is the most important Cava house is evident from the huge stream of international recognitions. The top cuvée Kripta was chosen by the famous French journalists 'Bettane and Desseauve' as the only Cava in their book 'the hundred best wines in the world' and was also donated during the presentation of this book and this in the lion's den! In this selection of the 100 best wines in the world, the Kripta shares the honour with 4 champagne houses all from champagne: Krug, Bollinger, Cristal and Dom Perignon. The Kripta is one of the 5 best sparkling wines in the world. At the request of some authoritative chefs, Agusti Torelló has also developed two types of cava-based vinegar and a cava for cooking ("Solid").

The cépages for this cuvée are at least 60 years old. This bodega only works with millésimés!! To express each year and also to demonstrate their competence. "Even in the weaker years, a good winemaker must succeed in getting the best out of the grape" is their motto.  Their cavas were on the map of the Catalan star restaurants El Bulli and El Celler de Can Roca. Also in the Parisian restaurant Pierre Gagnaire (3 stars) their cava is sold.

The Kripta has a very complex nose with citrus, tropical fruit, sweet nut aromas and vanilla. In the mouth nicely integrated bubbles and a very long finish in which, in addition to the minerals, toast, butter and vanilla can be discovered.
