The champagne house "Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin" was founded in 1772. The house has its name attached to the Businesswoman of the Year award. The house takes its name from Nicole-Barbe Clicquot-Ponsardin, a good businesswoman who led the company for years after her husband's death. The widow left her champagne house and many of the vineyards to her partner Mathieu Édouard Werlé. Veuve Clicquot-Ponsardin is based in Reims. The company is therefore focused on the use of pinot noir.
