Moët & Chandon is a champagne from the French town of Épernay. The house was founded in 1743 and is the largest champagne house in the world. Moët & Chandon has built up a great reputation during its 250 years of existence.
The house owns 600 hectares of vineyards in thirteen of the seventeen grand cru municipalities in champagne, but the production is so large that 75% of the grapes of about 1000 contracted farmers are bought. In the cellars of Moët & Chandon there are 100 million bottles to mature. These cellars and crayères in the limestone cliffs under Épernay are up to 30 meters deep and 28 kilometers long.
