Tariquet - 2017 Domaine Tariquet Dernieres Grives Petit Manseng

A beautiful, exotic dessert wine from Sud-Quest in Gascony.

Quantity: 1

Domaine Tariquet founded in 1912,  is now run by the third generation of winemakers, after Armagnac producer Pierre Grassa and his son Yves. When Yves Grassa planted grape varieties such as chardonnay and sauvignon blanc on his father's vineyards 25 years ago, Pierre feared that he would have to drink unsellable wines from his son Yves for the rest of his life.

The white and rosé wines of Domaine Tariquet in the Gascony are a great success worldwide. Key factors: a dedicated family and the latest techniques. The company is also the largest white wine producer in one appellation in France and is characterized by fresh, pure and accessible wines.

The Gascony is the region of the classic distillates Armagnac and Bas-Armagnac, based on grapes such as ugni blanc, folle blanche and colombard. With the rise of dry white wines and better techniques of winemaking, the region's producers have switched to white on a large scale. The local grapes ugni blanc and colombard have remained, and are supplemented with specimens from elsewhere, such as sauvignon blanc and gros manseng, and even chardonnay. Fresh white wines are made from these grapes; not only dry, but also sweet, with a mild and at the same time beautiful fresh character.

Very elegant sweet wine, beautifully balanced by the beautiful acidity. In the scent exotic fruit, in the taste mango, quince, apricots, beautiful rich and sweet, but by the acidity of the manseng also deliciously fresh, exotic but not heavy, lively and tasteful, beautiful length. For this sweet wine is used the local petit manseng, known for among other things the special sweet wines of Jurançon. The wine is so named because it must be protected from the last, greedy thrush (grives). They come down to the sugary grapes, which for this wine get their beautiful concentration for this wine. A wine made only in very small quantities. Serve well cold with a light dessert, fruit salad or tarte tatin. Also delicious with apple pie, stroopwafel ice cream and other desserts based on white fruit.
