A timeless champagne with the perfect balance between fullness and refinement, ripeness and freshness, full of subtle sensations.
The house was founded in Reims in 1843, by Joseph Krug, a visionary maverick with an uncompromising philosophy. Given that the true essence of Champagne is fun itself, his dream was to craft the best Champagne he could offer, every year, regardless of the annual variations in the climate. Paying close attention to the character of the vineyard, respecting the individuality of each plot and its wine, as well as building an extensive library of spare wines from many different years, Joseph Krug enabled him to fulfill his dream.
With a very original approach to champagne making, he decided to go beyond the notion of vintage to create the most generous expression of Champagne, every year. For example, he founded a house in which all Champagnes are of the same level of distinction.
Six generations of the Krug family have perpetuated this dream, enriching the vision of the founder and savoir faire. The wine estate has been owned by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy since 1999.
Krug Grande Cuvée is a brut non-millésime, but Krug calls this wine a multi-millésime (so not wine without vintage, but an assemblage of many vintages). The "Grande Cuvée" is made with more than 120 wines (reserves) from at least 10 different vintages. The wine is a blend of chardonnay, pinot noir, pinot meunier and possibly other grapes. After the prise the mousse, the bottles rest for another six years on yeast in the cool cellars in the chalk cliffs under Reims.

Aging: oak barrels after which in the bottle ripens on the yeast for six years.
